AlpacasWell, Falcon has 4 cria on the ground now. All are very nice. Whirlwind has had her Falcon cria and we now know that Falcon will pass along the mom’s color. The first three cria were white from white dams so we really had no idea about our chances of colored cria. Whirlwind’s cria is very close to the same color that she is, so we now know that we can breed Falcon to color and get colored cria.

Why is this important? Most quality full Peruvian males are white. Likewise, most pass on white to their cria. Falcon, like his dad Victor’s Vaccoyo and his grandpa Peruvian Victor,  provides us with the ability to pass along colored genes in combination with full Peruvian, ½ Accoyo genes.

A couple of other items of interest.-

Tahoe Breeze AlpacasOn Saturday September 22nd we’re hosting a bluegrass fiddle playing workshop instructed by Kenny Kosek. Kenny Kosek has been a “session player” with hundreds of top name bluegrass and “mainstream” acoustic artists---including James Taylor, Jerry Garcia and John Denver.  We’ve never done anything like this before but it should be a good time for all.

We currently have a full Accoyo “Studmaster” male on the property. Available for outside breedings, Juan Pablo is a gorgeous male with the great Vengador in his background. Juan Pablo will be standing stud at Tahoe Breeze until November 30th.

How do you aquire an alpaca herd with no property and very little cash upfront? How do you aquire bloodlines of quality males without purchasing the dam also? The answer for some, may be with an alpaca lease. We are putting the finishing touches on our “Lease-A-Paca” program. With no down, low monthly payments and NO agistment fees, breeding fees or veterinary fees, this program promises to be a winner. More on this next time. Or give us a call and we’ll be happy to discuss it with you.
