2009 National Alpaca Farm Days at Tahoe Breeze Alpacas

WOW!  What a fantastic weekend!  The weather cooperated and we had more visitors than we ever expected.  Thanks to everyone who took time out of their weekend to visit us.

We were all very busy with educating visitors about our wonderful animals, having the kids make felted soap, hot dogs on the bbq, coloring paca pages, and selling the wonderful end products from these animals.

A favorite activity was “Name the Baby Alpaca”.  We had over 50 entries!  It was a tough choice.  We had a baby boy born on Sept 25th and a baby girl born on Sept 24th, right before our open house.

The winning names were Tabby and Gerald.  Tabby is the name of one winner’s granddaughter, and Gerald is the name of a visitor we had at last year’s open house.  A very special man who died just a week later.  His daughter submitted his name.   Here is a picture of him with one of the babies from last year.

A big thank you goes out to our volunteers.  Our good friend Marc, and our kids Russ, Shyla, Alex, and Kelsie.

And a big shout out to Marilyn, our spinner.   We can’t thank you enough!   Always a big hit at our alpaca events.  She never fails to impress us with her skills.  There were folks that came from all over to see her and learn about the art of spinning.    If you’re interested in learning how to spin or weave, contact us for her info.  She will also be at our booth for Minden’s Annual Christmas Street Festival which is Dec 4th - Dec 6th.

Hope to see you next year, Sept 25th and 26th, 2010!
